A small light in everyday life
KOOMOR began with a simple desire: to hang the story of Jesus and the Creator God on the wall of a child’s room. This page shares the heart behind that beginning.
How KOOMOR began
I believe in God the Creator. And I believe that we resemble Him far more than we realize. We, too, love to create — objects, spaces, friendships, even the atmosphere around us. I am no different. I love making things, and I love expressing my thoughts through the lines and colors of my drawings. The most important story to me is the story of Jesus Christ. Yet in the midst of this world, His story is often hard to find — especially within the realms of art and culture. One day, I wanted to hang a picture in my child’s room that carried the story of Jesus and the story of the God who created this world. But I found nothing. The only option was a traditional painting of Jesus and His disciples at the Last Supper. So I thought to myself, “Maybe… I should draw it.” That is how KOOMOR began. Art has a way of speaking powerfully through nothing more than line and color. My hope is that the drawings I create — and the small objects made from them — will quietly speak in the midst of our everyday spaces: “You are precious.” “Jesus Christ died for you.” “You are a child of God.” “Do not be afraid. God is with you.” Through Scripture, God speaks extraordinary messages to us. I pray that the artworks shaped by these messages will bring you comfort and strength. My artist name is Eben, which means “stone.” It comes from Jesus’ words that God could raise children for Abraham even from stones. Even if I feel small and insignificant like a stone, I chose this name as a confession of faith: if God chooses to work through me, He can do what seems impossible. I pray that the abundant grace of God in your life will flow through you to those around you. And I praise God who takes our small gifts and shines the light of Jesus Christ into the world through us. Arise, shine.
